Your 12V system brings together alternator charging, battery isolation and distribution to your van's circuits. Rayne Automotive offers two ways to start: a pre-terminated install kit that you mount yourself, or a pre-wired power board with the central components already assembled.
Choose the format that suits your space, budget and how much of the installation you want to do. Then add the leisure battery, appliance looms and other charging sources that suit the rest of your build.
Different boards allow for different charging setups. If you expect to add solar or mains charging, we'll help you compare the appropriate options rather than choose on DC-DC charger size alone.
Browse every install kit and power board, or narrow the selection to the format you're looking for.
Want to lay out the central system yourself? The core kit brings together the DC-DC charger and its cabling kit, fuses and crimps, positive and negative mini busbars, a 12-way blade fuse box with leads, and a panel-mounted isolator switch. The cables are pre-terminated, but you choose where the components go and mount them in your van. Cable lengths are useful but generic and can be custom made if you speak with us.
Appliance looms are selected separately, so you can choose what suits your layout. Check the individual kit listing for the exact contents and battery-cable options.
Prefer the central components together in one neat assembly? A power board gives you a ready-mounted starting point for the 12V side of the van. Compare the space it needs, the cost and the work left for your installation against the flexibility of an install kit.
You'll still choose the battery and the other parts of your wider system to suit your build. Check each board listing for what's included.
A larger DC-DC charger isn't automatically the better choice. Start with what your battery can accept, the spare capacity available from your alternator and how often you drive. If your van spends more time parked than travelling, your solar and mains charging plans matter too.
An 18A route can suit an AGM system; the range can also be configured for compatible lithium batteries. For any battery, match the charger settings and charge rate to the battery manufacturer's limits. If you're weighing up 18A, 30A, XS 50A or XS 70A, our split-charge guide takes you through the choice in more detail.
The standard 30A board and the heavier-duty 30A board use the same DC-DC charge rate, but offer different scope for adding other charging sources. The XS boards share the heavier-duty solar-and-mains connection arrangement, with different DC-DC charge rates. Choose for the whole system you're building, not just the number in the board's name.
If you already know which solar panels, mains charger and battery you want, compare the board listings. If not, the System Builder can help you plan them together.
These are the base 12V systems, not complete battery packages. Choose a compatible battery separately unless a specific product listing says otherwise.
The core install kit does not include appliance looms. Choose the looms that match your layout separately. Check individual board listings for their exact contents.
Not necessarily. On a power board, the solar charging connection bypasses the battery isolator, and the DC-DC charger can still power the system while the engine is running unless separately isolated. Follow the instructions for your exact system before carrying out electrical work.
Yes, if you're replacing the relevant parts of an existing 12V setup. Check how the new kit or board will connect to your battery, wiring and any charging equipment you're keeping.
Our workshop checks the board visually and tests continuity, polarity and charger operation. The rest of the installation, including the connections in your van, still needs to be completed and checked for your particular build.
Choose an install kit or a pre-wired board, browse freely, or use the finder to narrow the options. If you're planning the battery, solar, mains and appliance circuits at the same time, the System Builder will help you see how they fit together.
