Adds 240V power to your campervan without over-specifying what you don't need. The Victron Inverter Smart VE.Direct 800Va delivers 650W of continuous pure sine wave power — enough for lights, laptop chargers, a small TV, and similar light loads. All from your leisure battery, wherever you're parked.
This is an inverter, not an inverter-charger — the simplest way to get clean 240V off-grid if you're charging by split charge and solar. The VE.Direct port means you can add Bluetooth monitoring later, and ECO mode cuts standby draw when nothing's plugged in.
The kit includes DC leads and an isolator switch specified for the 800Va's draw. Connect to your battery, flip the isolator, plug in — 240V power wherever you need it.
The Victron Inverter Smart 800VA delivers 650W of continuous pure sine 240V power with 1600W surge capability. It is a standalone inverter and does not provide mains battery charging. Here is what it can realistically run:

Wattages are typical values — check each appliance label. Keep the combined continuous load within 650W. The 1600W figure is short surge capability, not continuous output.
650W covers the loads that matter off-grid: lighting, device charging, a small TV, a DAB radio. Not a kettle — but everything short of heating elements runs comfortably.
The inverter pulses its output looking for loads, dropping standby draw to almost nothing. Switch something on and full power returns instantly.
The VE.Direct port takes a Bluetooth dongle — add one later and monitor consumption from your phone. The inverter is ready for it.
Your laptop charger and other electronics are safe. Modified sine wave inverters cost less but damage switch-mode power supplies over time — the Inverter Smart is the real thing at a fair price.

Lights, laptop and phone chargers, a small TV, a DAB radio, a small fan. Heating elements (kettles, hairdryers, small heaters) are out of range — they draw 800W+ each.
The MultiPlus is an inverter-charger — it also charges your battery from shore power and has automatic changeover. The Inverter Smart is inverter-only: simpler, cheaper, right if you don't use hook-ups or you already have a mains charger.
Not to use the inverter — it works out of the box. The dongle adds consumption monitoring from your phone, which is useful for understanding what your loads actually draw. Add it now or later.
Any healthy 12V leisure battery. At full 650W output it draws roughly 54A — within range of a 100Ah+ AGM or any lithium bank. Small or tired batteries will cause low-voltage shutdowns.
