Can my alternator handle 70A?

Most modern vans with 150A+ alternators can. The Orion XS lets you limit the charge current via Bluetooth — start at 50A and watch the main and leisure battery voltage in the app, then adjust up or down. Vehicles with smaller alternators should consider the XS 50A instead.

What size battery is this for?

The 70A is designed for large lithium banks — 300Ah and above. For smaller banks (100-200Ah), the XS 50A or Smart 30A will charge at the fastest rate your battery can accept without over-spec.

Do I need to upgrade my alternator?

Not usually. The Orion XS draws only what your alternator can spare after running the vehicle. If you notice dimming lights or slow cranking, reduce the charge current in the app.

Can I add solar too?

Yes — the Orion XS runs alongside a separate solar charge controller. For a combined solar + alternator setup, look at the Solar + Power Board kits or add an MPPT controller separately.
