Runs real 240V appliances off your leisure battery. The Victron Inverter Smart 12/2000 delivers 1600W of continuous pure sine wave power — enough for a kettle, power tools, a microwave on medium, or a hairdryer. Off-grid, in a field, with nothing but your battery bank.
This is an inverter, not an inverter-charger — it converts DC to AC, full stop. (If you want shore-power charging too, look at the MultiPlus kits instead.) What it does, it does properly: pure sine wave and enough surge headroom to start inductive loads like fridges and tools.
The kit includes the heavy-duty DC leads and isolator switch specified for 1600W of continuous draw. That's not a detail — pulling 133A+ from a battery through undersized cable means voltage drop, heat, and wasted power. This kit's cables are built for the job.
The Victron Inverter Smart 12/2000 delivers 1600W of continuous pure sine 240V power with 4000W surge capability for appliance start-up. It is a standalone inverter and does not provide mains battery charging. Here is what it can realistically run:

Wattages are typical values — check each appliance label. Keep the combined continuous load within 1600W. The 4000W figure is short surge capability, not continuous output.
A travel kettle draws 800-1000W; a full-size one up to 3000W (too much). The 12/2000 handles travel kettles, small microwaves on medium, power tools, and hairdryers under 1600W. Check your appliance ratings — this inverter tells you quickly what's possible.
Add up your appliances before you buy — anything under the 1600W continuous rating is fair game. It's the fastest way to learn what your battery bank can and can't support.
In ECO mode the inverter pulses its output looking for loads, dropping standby draw to a fraction of a watt. When you switch something on, it's at full power instantly. For long off-grid stretches this matters.
1600W at 12V is over 133A of continuous draw. The leads in this kit are sized for that — anything less means voltage drop, heat at the terminals, and the inverter shutting down on low voltage when your battery is half full.

At 1600W draw you're pulling 133A+ from a 12V battery. Lithium handles this comfortably; small AGM batteries will sag under the load. As a rule of thumb: at least 200Ah of lithium for full-power use, or run lower-draw appliances from smaller banks.
A 700-800W microwave on medium power draws roughly 1000-1200W from the inverter — within range. Full-power 1200W+ microwaves will exceed it. Check the appliance label before buying.
This is an inverter only — for people who charge by split charge and solar and just need 240V off-grid. If you also use campsite hook-ups, a MultiPlus kit combines inverter and charger in one unit.
Small air fryers (800-1400W) run on the 12/2000 — check the label. Large ones (1800W+) will trip the overload.
