Use the sun to charge your leisure battery — properly, with an array that matches your power needs. This kit bundles multiple Victron panels with a SmartSolar MPPT controller matched to the array, array cabling, mount hardware, and a PV isolator — sized as a system so every panel's output actually reaches your battery (excluding fixings and adhesives/sealants).
The controller is matched to your array — 100/30 for two panels, 100/50 for three, 150/45 for four — sized to handle the combined current of multiple panels with margin for cold-weather voltage spikes. That's not a detail you can retrofit later: if the controller is too small, you're paying for panel wattage you'll never harvest.
Choose your panel count at checkout and the kit arrives with everything matched — panels, controller, cabling, and mounts. One delivery, one installation, a proper solar array.
Real UK seasonal estimates from our power calculator's solar model — 2.39 effective sun-hours/day in summer, 0.74 in winter. Yields shown per full day. Ranges cover 130W and 190W panel options. Summer — 621-908Wh/day (approx. 49-71Ah) Winter — 192-281Wh/day (approx. 15-22Ah) Summer — 932-1362Wh/day (approx. 73-107Ah) Winter — 289-422Wh/day (approx. 23-33Ah) Summer — 1243-1816Wh/day (approx. 97-142Ah) Winter — 385-562Wh/day (approx. 30-44Ah)
A 4×190W array produces up to 58A in ideal conditions. The 150/45 controller in this kit handles it — including the 45% surge tolerance Victron builds in. An undersized controller clips that harvest permanently.
Panel voltage rises in cold weather — about 0.3% per degree below 25°C. At -10°C, a 190W panel's VOC hits 23.9V and a 4-series array would exceed 95V. The controllers in this kit are specified with that margin built in.
Bluetooth in the controller shows total array output, not per-panel guesswork. If one panel is underperforming — shade, dirt, a failed connection — you'll see it in the numbers.
Start with 2 panels if your power needs are moderate, or go straight to 4 if you run a fridge, inverter, and heavy 12V loads. The controller handles the full range without an upgrade path required.
Large arrays deserve a large battery bank
Backup charging for cloudy stretches
Clean internal cable routing
For a compressor fridge plus normal 12V loads, 2×190W covers summer comfortably. Full-time off-grid with an inverter — go 3 or 4. If you're unsure, the Camper Power Planner calculates your actual daily consumption.
The panels connect in series — no branch connectors supplied. Series keeps the cabling simple and the current low, with inline fusing per string.
A 4-panel series string runs at roughly four times a single panel's voltage — about 95V VOC at -10°C, inside the 150/45's 150V rating with margin to spare. A 100/30 would clip your harvest permanently.
MPPT controllers extract meaningful power even in diffuse light. On a heavy overcast day, expect 10-20% of the array's rated output — still useful charging, just slower.
