Lightweight semi-flexible solar kit with MPPT controller, cabling and mounts — solar charging without the roof obtrusion

Use the sun to charge your leisure battery without raising the roofline. The 150W semi-flexible panel sits just millimetres above the roof surface — no aluminium frame, no visible mounting brackets, no extra wind noise at motorway speed. Panel, matched SmartSolar controller, cabling, and PV isolator in one kit (excluding fixings and adhesives/sealants).

At a fraction of the weight of a rigid panel, this kit is ideal for elevating roofs, pop-tops, and curved surfaces where a rigid panel either won't fit or looks wrong. The SmartSolar MPPT controller makes sure every ray that the panel catches gets converted properly.

The kit includes the mounting hardware and cabling — you supply the roof. For vans where a rigid panel would be too much, this is solar charging that keeps a low profile.

  • 150W semi-flexible solar panel — lightweight and low-profile
  • Victron SmartSolar MPPT 75/15 controller, matched to panel
  • Bluetooth monitoring via VictronConnect app — live and 30 days of history
  • Cable entry gland with sealant-friendly base
  • Weighs a fraction of a rigid panel with frame
  • Conforms to gentle roof curvature
  • PV Isolation included as standard
  • Optional MC4 internal cutoff — rooftop connectors as standard, or our internal connector service for a clean pass-through cable entry

☀️ Solar Yield — Real UK Estimates

150W panel — Summer

359Wh

approx. 28Ah per day

150W panel — Winter

111Wh

approx. 8.7Ah per day

Real UK seasonal estimates from our power calculator's solar model — 2.39 effective sun-hours/day in summer, 0.74 in winter. Yields shown per full day.

📦 What's Included

1

150W Semi-Flexible Solar Panel

  • Lightweight monocrystalline panel on a semi-flexible backing. Mounts flat to the roof with adhesive or mechanical fixings (not supplied). 150W in a package that weighs kilos, not tens of kilos.
2

Victron SmartSolar MPPT 75/15 Controller

  • MPPT technology converts the panel's output efficiently, with Bluetooth so you can monitor the harvest live and for the last 30 days.
3

Solar Cabling Kit

  • Pre-made cable run with MC4 connectors, roof-entry cable gland, and inline fuse.
4

Mounting Hardware

  • Cable entry gland and fixings specified for the flexible panel's mounting method.
5

Solar PV Isolator (DC Breaker)

  • A DC breaker handles isolation and circuit protection in one unit. Switch your solar charge off when storing lithium batteries or for system maintenance.

⚡ Key Features

01Low Profile, No Compromise on Charging

The panel sits flush to the roof. No brackets, no frame, no wind resistance. It still produces 150W in good conditions — enough to run lights, a fridge, and device charging off-grid.

02Light Enough for Any Roof

Elevating roofs and pop-tops have weight limits. This panel weighs a fraction of a rigid panel with its frame — you get the charging without stressing the mechanism.

03MPPT — Every Watt Counts More

Flexible panels run warmer than rigid ones, which costs some output. The MPPT controller recovers that by tracking the maximum power point continuously — you still get the most from what the panel produces.

04Perfect for Curved and Limited Roofs

The panel conforms to gentle curvature and mounts on surfaces where a rigid panel would need an ugly sub-frame.

❓ FAQ

How does a flexible panel compare to rigid?

Flexible panels run slightly hotter (they're closer to the roof), which costs roughly 5-10% of output in hot weather. The trade-off is weight, height, and aerodynamics. For most vans, the difference is small; for elevating roofs, flexible is the only choice.

How is it mounted?

Adhesive (Sikaflex or similar — not supplied) for most roofs, with optional mechanical fixing points. The key is a clean, sealant-compatible surface. The cable entry gland provides a watertight pass-through.

Can I walk on it?

Occasionally, carefully, with soft-soled shoes — but it's not designed for regular foot traffic. Plan your roof layout so you don't need to.

What can 150W run?

Our power calculator's UK solar model gives the 150W panel roughly 359Wh (about 28Ah) per day in summer and 111Wh (about 8.7Ah) in winter. That covers lights, device charging, and a compressor fridge with careful use through summer — add a split charge kit for days when the sun doesn't cooperate.

Questions and answers

Can Rayne Automotive help me choose the right option?

Yes. Use the System Builder for a full specification, or book a consultation and tell us what you want to run and what is already fitted.

Do you supply trade accounts?

Yes. Van converters can apply for a Rayne Automotive trade account for kit pricing and support.

Is help available after I buy?

Yes. The Help Centre carries installation instructions, and the team supports what it sells.
